In 2020 Coniglio Ainsworth Architects (CAA) joined with MPS Architects as the CAMPS JV, participating in the Alliance Development phase for the Morley–Ellenbrook Line Request for Proposal (RFP) tender with the shortlisted Ellenbrook Alliance team including CPB Contractors and Downer EDI.

As part of that tender, CAMPS proposed the design for Morley Station on the Morley-Ellenbrook Line (now known as the Ellenbrook Line), which also included proposals for five other stations.

Morley Station was proposed to be constructed within the safeguarded central median of Tonkin Highway directly to the south of the existing Broun Avenue bridge. The location and design seeks to utliise key CAA team experience from previously completed work of the same typology for the Mandurah line stations.

A multidisciplinary design approach was adopted to ensure that the Station design was cohesive with the Urban Design, Placemaking, Landscape Architecture and Engineering design for the Station and the Precinct. The design sought to produce a public realm that with the nearby Wotton Reserve recreation and sporting grounds created an attractive, convenient and safe place for the community to enjoy and that provides an inviting commuter experience which emphasises the place and journey experience rather than simply just being a transitory space to pass through.

The station architectural, urban design and landscape architecture design responds to the site’s varied history of multi-cultural sporting influences, industrial background, the role of the Tonkin Highway as a long serving major transport link and the indigenous heritage of the area. The station is designed to be accessed from the Broun Avenue bridge which would be widened to incorporate a bus interchange directly adjacent to the entrance to the station. The station is designed to have two entrances, one either side of the Broun Ave Bridge providing a safe pedestrian environment by eliminating the need for pedestrians to cross Broun Ave.

The stations place on the new Morley-Ellenbrook line provides a key new transport hub providing connections to Morley Galleria, surrounding businesses and community that is provided through high-frequency bus services that depart from the new adjacent Bus Interchange.

A new PTA multi-story carpark featuring generous green-wall landscaping to its external facades was proposed to be located on the western side Tonkin Highway providing parking facilities for patrons arriving by car with a pedestrian link to the station entrance.
