Byford Station is proposed to be located within the rail corridor near the existing Byford Town Centre and the Architectural Concept design features an at-grade Island platform and associated Southern Station Entry Building serving the Urban Rail network, a Marginal Platform serving the TransWa Australind service between Bunbury and Perth, a Western Station Entry building that addresses the new western station forecourt and western portion of the Byford Town centre, PTA Bus Interchange and Station Carpark.

The Preliminary Place Plan and Indicative Landscape Response developed by the Byford ELUP team for Byford Station during the PDP stage has also informed the Station Architectural design to ensure high quality pedestrian shelter provisions and amenities including in the Welcome Space at the Station building forecourt to the west of the Station. The Station Architectural design aims to create a landmark building with appropriate built form character to create a sense of place and a point of reference for the Byford town centre and community, whilst responding to the potential future developments of the site and surrounds.

The proposed station comprises of the following key elements –

  • 150m long (operational length excluding sliding buffer stop) x 11m wide Island Platform serving the Urban Rail network,

  • Southern Station Entry building at southern end of Island Platform,

  • Western Entry Building adjacent new western station plaza,

  • 25m long x 6.5m wide Australind Marginal Platform to west of Station,

  • Station Carpark to the west,

  • Bus Interchange to the west which includes DFES Hardstand bay

  • Freestanding SER Building to the north west of the Bus Interchange

  • Western Power substation to the north west of the Bus Interchange

  • RSR Monopole

Together all these facilities constitute Byford Station. The facilities as a whole are proposed to provide convenient, efficient, attractive, safe and simple to use Bus Passenger Transfer, Kiss & Ride, Park & Ride and walk on/cycle patronage to the station.
