Midland SES Facility

The approach adopted for this Design and Construct project, funded by FESA and project managed by the City of Swan, was to reinterpret the generic SES standard format facility design. Typically separated administration and vehicle appliance buildings are combined to achieve functional and spatial economies and give the facility a civic scale. The administration spaces and staff outdoor areas enjoy views across Jack Mann oval to the north. Service facilities are located centrally for convenient access from both wings of the building and provide acoustic seperation between the vechile appliance bays and administration spaces. Prefabricated shed construction techniques were adopted to address tight budgetary constraints and the resulting shed aesthetic is stretched, tweaked and refined to achieve a dynamic street prescence along Bishop Road.
